As the oldest independent official Record Store Day shop in the town, we not only specialise in new vinyl but also stock thousands of used and rare/collectible vinyl LP records, 12″ & 7″ singles. We also sell classic record players from like Dansette, Garrard and Bush, new and used turntables by Pro-Ject, Rega, Linn, Thorens and Technics as well as a full range of hi-fi equipment, spare parts (needles and belts) & the highly rated Roth Oli speakers, t-shirts, music artwork and memorabilia. Situated in the heart of Little Chelsea in Eastbourne’s town centre, our record shop is just 1 minute’s walk from the train station. Founded in 2012, The Vinyl Frontier is run by Chris King, a former music journalist, DJ and band/club Promoter, along with fellow DJ and former journalist Rhydd Pugh.
new & Used vinyl records
Catering for the committed collector, the music enthusiast and the casual browser, The Vinyl Frontier’s new & used vinyl records stock spans a spectrum of music from the 1950s through to the present. The shop stocks records from most musical genres including Jazz, Blues, Classical, 1960s Beat & Mod, Soul & Motown, Reggae, Rock, Prog, Psych, Punk, New Wave, Garage, Grunge, Brit Pop, Funk, Hop-Hop and Dance. Our racks of LP records and singles are regularly refreshed every day so it’s always worth dropping in to have a rummage or a dig. With almost 1,000 new vinyl records and over 15,000 used records on sale starting from as little as £1, we aim to have something for every visitor.
Eastbourne’s NEW Vinyl Record Café
Our latest addition is the vinyl café in the rear of the shop, where our barrista trained staff can make you a latte, cappucino, americano or espresso just the way you like it while you sit back and listen to the records we’re playing on our twin Technics 1210 turntables. All our coffee is ethically sourced with only the roaster between us and the co-operative of farmers who grow the beans, ensuring more money reaches the growers.
The café is the venue for a variety of in-store events that we host here at The Vinyl Frontier including live music, DJs and book readings/signings. Recent happenings have included DJ sets by Rhoda Dakar (The Bodysnatchers / The Specials), Steve Mason (The Beta Band), Pete Wiggs (St Etienne) and Wendy May while we put on live in-stores from artists as diverse as The Mystery Jets, Chris Difford (Squeeze), Sean O’Hagan (The High Llamas/Stereolab) and The Ashley Henry Trio.
So next time you’re visiting Eastbourne, make sure to drop in to The Vinyl Frontier record shop for a browse through some of our thousands of new & used records.
