The Strummer Room started life as an independent music project which became involved in the organisation of small festivals and gigs within Oxfordshire, UK. Including a regular radio show on Radio Horton and Puritans Radio featuring music from local bands and artistes. We originally opened a small 2nd hand vinyl record shop “Strummer Room Records” on the top floor of an antique emporium on Parsons Street in Banbury’s Old Town in 2018 before opening a pop-up shop just up the road in Church Lane in February 2020. When our tenure at the pop-up expired we moved to our new unit at Cherwell Business Village. We specialise in brand new releases, re-issues and good quality preowned vinyl records.

Everything here is available for mail order or click and collect at The Buttermarket Redruth. Please choose at checkout. Great selection of records old and new, lots of local music represented as well. … GREAT CHAT & SELECTION OF MUZAK Here’s a snippet from a newspaper article: England’s smallest record shop Lucky’s Record Bar has opened in Cornwall There are a lot of us vinyl junkies and music lovers out there which is why the new record shop, which opened in the old Buttermarket in Redruth a few weeks ago, is an absolute gem. What makes it even more special is that it has been dubbed the smallest record shop in England by Graham Jones, author of books about record shops including Last Shop Standing, The Vinyl Revival and The Shops That Made it Happen. And he should know.

Roan Records began life in 1980 by a young man who wanted to open a record store, and after forty years of un-careful planning and not even thinking about it, in chunks of several years over this time, it has now appeared out of the mist and has settled in a corner of Teddington. A great shop, friendlty staff, great variety of music. Great music and great coffee. Name a better combo I’ll wait Good selection of new vinyl, great coffee and a nice chat. Great selection of new vinyl releases, including reissues, new titles, compilations etc. and excellent coffee! Ask! … and If he ‘hasn’t got it, he’ll get it (Non turntable owners also welcomed)

White Stripes’ Jack White’s Third Man Records’ first ever store outside the USA is situated in the heart of London’s historic Soho – an area renowned for its rich musical history and completes a trio of Third Man physical spaces that includes facilities in Nashville, Tennessee and Detroit, Michigan. Personally designed by Third Man founder Jack White, the store was conceptualized and created throughout 2020 and 2021 during the Covid pandemic, with the aim of creating a physical space to help keep record sales and live performances alive after such a tough period for everyone. Its two levels include a retail space, an intimate live music venue named “The Blue Basement,” and all the quirks, details and idiosyncrasies we have become renowned around the world for: a token-operated lucky dip book machine, the “Literarium,” a recording booth where artists and the public can record their own material straight to vinyl, and much more. A place of creativity and wonder. Fueled by the passion of music lovers that have a drive to create and share. This will be a wonderful place filled with novelties, gifts, and a collection of some of the most incredible music on vinyl. Undoubtedly there will be […]

New record shop in Liverpool – Collect and Survive. Here’s what the owner Allan told us: Set up as a pop up shop in North Liverpool as we don’t have any since the last shops shut down on to end of the 90’s. I used to work at those shops and when I moved back to the area I decided to open my own shop. The pop up events worked week and I’ve got a permanent location on South Road now. We sell second hand and new vinyl and we put a bit emphasis on supporting new local artists. We put artists on in store and support local charities.

Thirteen Records is an independent record store based in Dundee, Scotland. 13 Union Street. Great stock. Friendly and helpful staff. Got Queen Latifah’s first LP for £1.50 total bargain! The staff have gathered together a stock range that is outstanding in a very short amount of time. Cannot speak highly enough of the staff and very impressed with the stock and the lay out of the store. Through from Glasgow to visit the V&A, while out for a walk I discovered thirteen records. Future is Vinyl @ Vinyl Cafe A to Z, music is a journey; transporting you to another place through the medium of sound waves. Vinyl Cafe is the brainchild of James Brown the owner and founder of the shop on Abbey Street, Carlisle. It’s about slowing down to appreciate and actually taking the time to really listen. Music on Vinyl gives the listener a more tangible experience bringing them closer to what the artist originally intended for their sound, which sometimes is lost in the transition from studio to mastering to release in other listening formats. Vinyl Cafe is a space where listeners can relax and browse in an slightly different, unhurried environment. With an eclectic range of vinyl to suit the eclectic mind. Ex Premier League referee Jon Moss has opened a record shop in Leeds called The Vinyl Whistle (Premier League referee Jon Moss Q&A: Music and football). One of the most exciting things of growing up in the 70’s and 80’s was making your early music choices. Buying your first 7 inch single from Woolworth’s, or better still, saving up your pocket money for weeks to buy your first album. The cover artwork, the record sleeve and the vinyl. There’s really nothing like it. And so began my discovery into music and my ever growing record collection. So you can imagine how excited I was to see the resurgence of vinyl records. I simply had to open a store! I’m Jon, and I hope my love of music and vinyl is shared by you. I’m constantly sourcing new records, so be sure to join our mailing list or even drop by to our Headingley store for cake and coffee – check out what’s new and let’s play to the Vinyl Whistle. Customer reviews of The Vinyl Whistle Fantastic selection. An awesome shop that you really need to visit if you like your vinyl. Great staff too! VINYL IS BACK IN TOWN […]

A new belt’n’braces record shop for the Isle of Wight. New, secondhand, rare… at Scarrots Lane, Newport PO30 1JP. Reviews of Triple A records An amazingly wide choice of records, from all genres and eras, being sold by two guys who love music! Nice atmosphere for just browsing, and they’re happy to play a record so you can try before you buy. Top sounds from folks at the beating heart of the UK music scene AAA has saved my day more than once: First came a frustrating flat. It was midnight, I was mid-life. No hassle help with lots of good humour soon got me back on The Road. Another time, was pulled from deep deep mud by a soft shoulder. Couldn’t have done it alone. Thank you, AAA. Laterally-thinking, logistical savants, AAA keep their experienced fingers on many pulses far and wide, in order to deliver a grade AAA service. They have the knowledge, or know a gal who can. Record store stocking the latest releases on 12″, along with curiously curated selections and rarities. Experienced music promoter Darren Smyth is one of the figures behind Strange Victory Records, with Jeff Doherty, owner of used vinyl speciality store Dragon Records on Wellington Place, also involved. Darren, who has helped bring over 400 bands and musicians to Belfast over the last 18 years, said he felt there was a gaping hole in the market for an independently owned outlet to buy new vinyl. “Outside of HMV there is nowhere to buy new vinyl in what is supposedly a capital city. We’re the only city I can think of in Europe I think that doesn’t have at least one,” he said.

Bath’s only vintage record shop, in the heart of the city. Bespoke wooden shop filled with rare and interesting records from all over the world. Customer reviews of Resolution Records Bath Great shop! Fantastic knowledgeable staff with a choice selection of vinyl. knowledgable and friendly store. Its an excellent vintage record store. Came back home to Sweden with a lot of stuff i couldnt even dream of finding here. Very service minded staff and just that the owner turns on one of your favourite bands when you asks for their section gave me goosebumps. A store where i didnt have to crawl on the floor for the bargains with a decent organization of them. Great shop, great selection and the owner knows his stuff. However could do with a listening deck or two, with the amount of stock somewhere to listen through stuff at your own leisure would go a long way. Still a great place for a dig!! Best place I’ve found to get vinyls in the west. A real gem for serious music lovers. Cheers Mark – will be back very soon!

Owner, Martin Thompson, owns this bijou record store overlooking the river here in Haverfordwest, South-West Wales. He’s been in business for many years buying and selling new and second-hand vinyl records, CDs, even ye olde cassette tapes. Martin draws on decorated bags were slipped to unsuspecting customers over the years. Some where discarded, others were pinned up on bedroom or kitchen walls. Some customers even ask for them. If you have records or CDs for sale he’d like to hear from you. Much depends on what the items are and the condition they are in. “Top source of vinyl and CDs, good banter and great bunch of lads.” “As a customer for many, many years(over 35, at least), I can assure anyone interested in this fascinating, independent shop, that the stock primarily consists of VINYL(both new and second-hand). All varieties of music included and all at VERY reasonable prices. Referred to in Garth Cartwright’s book, ‘Going for a Song’ as ‘the finest in West Wales’ and quite right, too. “

Great selection of records, hot drinks, guitars and the wonderful Esther. What more could you ask for!? Very nice little record store. Plastic Wax is Bristol’s longest established record shop and has the largest selection of used vinyl and CDs in Bristol catering for a very wide range of genres at all price points, we are also keen to buy as well as sell and happy to consider collections. Customer reviews of Plastic Wax Records Fantastic shop and really helpful staff. One of the better ones around the country, all presented well, clean and friendly atmosphere. Very good selection of secondhand vinyl, slightly overpriced at times and as usual in Bristol a lack of metal but an enjoyable trip down memory lane if you wanna to empty a wallet. Also the only record store that has survived since my teenage years. Rite Price, Replay and Disc N’ Tape have all fallen to the sword over the last 20 years. I can’t go into Plastic Wax without buying something. it’s worth having the membership card. I’ve saved the £3 membership many. many times over. Always a great selection of 70s and 80s music. It’s 20 years since I lived in Bristol and it’s always great to revisit my home city. Also brilliant to return here, where I spent so much of my time […]

Idle Hands is a Bristol based record shop and label set up by Chris Farrell in 2009. Starting life as a record label whilst Farrell was working alongside Peverelist at the now defunct Rooted Records, a shop which for many years had nurtured the nascent Dubstep scene in Bristol. The label was started to represent a resurgent house scene that was beginning to take shape in the slipstream of Dubstep – early releases from Peverelist, Kowton and Headhunter tapped into the the four four sound. Toward the end of 2010 when it became clear that Rooted Records would have to close the decision was taken by Farrell to carry the flame forward by opening his own shop. Idle Hands took its name from the label and opened its doors on Stokes Croft in February 2011. The aim of the shop has always been to represent the thriving dance music scene in the city by supporting local artists, labels and DJs – whilst also having an international perspective of stocking and reaching out to music producers from around the world. Several years later the shop has established itself as a leading record shop with a world wide reputation. Customer reviews of […]
